Not only does the Subaru Global Platform build a car that's easier to drive, it is also a single engineering concept that will be incorporated into the development of all future Subaru models.
The new Subaru Global Platform makes a new type of driving experience possible. With greater rigidity throughout the body and chassis and substantial improvements to the suspension system, the new platform can enable highly responsive precision steering.
Optimized frame structure and stronger joints further help to distribute the resonance and distortion throughout the body, reducing vibrations from the steering wheel, floor and seats, achieving a quietness that goes beyond its class and allows the car to maintain smoothness on irregular road surfaces. And by mounting the rear stabilizer directly to the body, the new platform reduces body roll by as much as 50%.
The Subaru Global Platform makes our vehicles even safer. First, by lowering the center of gravity by 5mm, cars are able to achieve greater stability, especially when making sudden or sharp turns. This benchmarks Subaru cars in its outstanding danger avoidance capabilities against high-performance cars.
Secondly, thanks to a strong-yet-agile frame structure, in the event of a collision, impact energy absorption is now improved by 40%. The Subaru Global Platform is engineered for the future with hybrid and electric vehicles in mind.
